Wedding Lingerie

0

Wedding lingerie is a great gift that anyone can give a bride. The selection of wedding lingerie available today is immense. You can get elegant beauty or you can get racy, revealing, sexy looks that will help to enhance any bride’s wedding night. Bridal showers often produce gifts of sexy lingerie and it is pretty standard any more. However, in the past, there was real significant value to the gift of lingerie.

In the past, a bride would often receive something called a trousseau. The trousseau was a large collection of things that were all symbolic in that they represented the brides change from a single girl to a married woman. In many cultures, it also symbolized significant wealth and great status in society. The bridal trousseau would often include hand made wedding lingerie, elaborate evening gowns, everyday dresses and socially proper attire. The wedding lingerie would often include corsets, robes, pataloons and slippers. Many new brides would change their clothing in excess of five times each day.

The bridal trousseau was a tradition up until late in the twentieth century. Many mothers and grandmothers spent many years creating a bridal trousseau for their daughter. This was their way of expressing their great love for their children. The robe was one of the most elaborate items in the trousseau and many months were often spent sewing and embroidering it. Many mothers started their child’s trousseau when they were still an infant.

Unfortunately, most of this symbolism is lost on today’s society. The sole purpose of wedding lingerie is to excite the new husband, not to show a change into womanhood or in social status. While some of the lingerie available to the modern bride shows a softer side, as the traditions have been lost, the designs have changed as well. Much of it is daring and exotic.

Modern brides often create their own look and choose their own wedding lingerie to customize it to their own tastes. Most women have different sides to their personality and each depends on their mood. This allows the bride to put together a mix of many different types of lingerie to be used depending on the setting and the mood of both her and her new husband.

Another tradition that is still followed today is the custom designing of a wedding dress. The fun part about this is that many dressmakers will offer their services to create wedding lingerie that complements the dress itself. A beautiful, romantic dress will require soft, romantic lingerie. A more modern dress may require a more smooth, sleek looking lingerie. The best part is that the lingerie is guaranteed to fit you perfectly if it is tailor made for you and not store bought.

Purchasing wedding lingerie for a bridal trousseau is a wonderful tradition and a great way to express your love to both the bride and groom. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have created a memory that both will appreciate and remember for years and years.
