Chemise

0

A chemise has been referred to in the past as a shift or a smock. It can also be used to desribe some types of dresses or underclothes worn by women. The general use of the name refers to a garment that is worn close to the skin and its function is to wick away sweat and body oils from the skin, yet protect clothing from the stains caused by body fluids.

The chemise originated in ancient Rome as a tunic and became popular with women during the Middle Ages. They began wearing chemises under their robes or gowns. The chemise was the one piece of clothing that was laundered on any sort of a regular basis.

In the early 20th century, the chemise was finally replaced by clothing that we now know as bra’s, girdles, panties, and the full slip. Most chemises were handmade by the woman wearing them. They were made from scrap pieces of cloth. Depending on wealth and social status, a chemise could be made from very fine, comfortable materials, or from rough, uncomfortable materials.

There were several different types of chemises that the modern ones originated from:

The basic chemis is a shirt with sleeves and a neckline that can be drawn tight with a drawstring. There were also cuffs that closed with drawstrings.

The german chemise is similar in style to the blouses that are worn by a barmaid in an old fashioned german bar. Similar to the basic chemise, the drawstring neckline is enhanced with ruffles, as are the sleeves.

The irish chemise is very close to the basic chemise except that the sleeves are exceptionally long and generally tied back with ribbons.

The modern use of the word chemise refers to women’s clothing that sort of resembles the originals but are much more fashionable and generally sexy in nature. The modern chemise is a very loose-fitting, shirt-like, sleeveless article of lingerie. Some dresses that are short and sleeveless, that fit loosely at the waist, and hang straight down are also referred to as a chemise. You will often find ruffles and ribbons on modern chemises, just like the original ones that were made. This gives them the old-fashioned appearance that is so appealing to most men.

In sleepwear, the babydoll is a type of chemise that is often considered sexy lingerie. Babydolls, though worn by adults, resemble a nightgown that might be worn by a little girl, although it will typically be much more provocative in its look and shorter in length. This simple and seemingly innocent style of nightwear can be just the answer to your spouse’s fantasies.

The sexy chemise of today can be found in almost every lingerie store imaginable. You can also find many different styles and variations, from plain to just outright outrageous. You can find the standard white cotton chemise. Or, you could choose the lacy see through hot pink chemise. Either way, you are sure to get the reaction you are looking for from your man.
