Nightwear

0

Nightwear, not surprisingly, is worn to bed. There are many types to choose from, ranging from dowdy-but-comfortable to worthy of a porn star (for those nights when you don’t plan on sleeping). Here is a brief guide to some of the more popular categories of women’s nightwear.

The Nightgown

The nightgown is the most typical traditional style of ladies nightwear. It is available in many styles, from ankle length to mid-thigh or above. Flannel is the traditional warm, cozy fabric for cold winter nights. Flannel is not often considered romantic or sexy, however. For that, consider the luxurious romantic feel of silk and satin. More risqué options include lace, mesh or sheer materials. A short, sleek sexy nightgown is generally referred to as a negligee or baby doll.

The Chemise

A chemise is a short, body-skimming garment that can be worn as women’s nightwear or in place of a bra or slip during the day. Chemises are often made of silk, although there are other fabric options available as well. The chemise is both sexy and comfortable, and since it can be worn night or day, it’s a very versatile option.

The Pajama Set

Although pajamas are often thought of as men’s nightwear, they have been feminized. Styles are generally cute and flirty rather than out and out sexy. They are comfortable and stylish, and unlike many forms of nightwear can be worn while lounging around the home. Silk is a preferred material, but like nightgowns, flannel may be better for cold winter nights.

The Boy Shorts and Tank Top

Boy shorts are a comfortable and sexy alternative to panties. Paired with a tank top or soft camisole top, boy shorts are a comfortable and attractive sleeping option. Boy shorts for women often feature fun patterns and slogans. This is a great option for the kind of woman who doesn’t like the fussy look of a nightgown or pajama set.

T-Shirt and Panties

A t-shirt and panties can be an extremely comfortable combination, and yet an attractive and appealing one. This combination has the added advantage of being usable both for day and night wear, and may be the preferred sleepwear for traveling.

Robes and Other Accessories

Nightwear isn’t generally complete by itself. Often one needs a robe or other accessory for practical reasons, not just to complete a look. Robes are available in a wide range of styles, making it easy to find a suitable one. A full-length robe is an excellent choice of loungewear to cover a sexy nightwear option. If modesty is not a concern, or there are no others living in the home, consider a very short robe in silk or satin. To further up the ante when you’re going for sexy, look for a matching robe in a sheer fabric.

Bedroom slippers are another essential accessory. If you feel that those bunny slippers are too childish, and the fluffy slippers too dowdy, consider high-heeled bedroom slippers. They go rather nicely with thigh-high stockings. It may not be the most comfortable combination but the look will get a man’s attention.
